e426.org Launched by Laid-Off IT and Business Professionals – a Technology Driven Virtual Nonprofit

Emerging Technologies Usher in a New Approach for Nonprofits;
Changing the Way Nonprofits Help Others and Themselves

Philadelphia, PA (July 1, 2009) – The launch of e426.org, a virtual nonprofit organization, was announced today by Sandy L. Kearney, volunteer president. Senior level Information Technology (IT) professionals, members of the scientific research community, analysts, and business professionals impacted by recent massive corporate lay-offs founded this organization. These senior level professionals have created an organization that uses their business acumen, skills and best practices to provide services to American businesses and nonprofit organizations struggling against the daunting challenges in the current economic climate.

Kearney, the driving force behind the new organization, was most recently Director of IBM Research for Global Initiatives and Programs focusing on government, business and national agendas. “We’ve assembled a professional talent pool from throughout the U.S. to assist businesses and nonprofits virtually,” said Ms. Kearney.  “The sheer number of laid-off professionals is staggering – which has created a talent pool for us to draw from to assist our targeted client base.”

e426.org identifies organizational needs for businesses and nonprofits, designs and implements change management strategies in the areas of training, marketing planning and execution, technical support, education and enablement for businesses as well as volunteer agencies across America. Alliance partners and volunteers provide ancillary support for this new organization.  e426.org has formed  partnership alliances with the Federation of American Scientists, BP Solutions, Inc., Metaphour Digital, SocialtextPeace City Consumer and Business Services, Pacific Ethnographic Research Center, Strategy & Design Solutions and Futuramic Media

e426 exemplifies the  next generation of nonprofits – the virtual nonprofit. The new nonprofit organization: no walls or physical work spaces; board meetings, staff and volunteers are geographically dispersed across the United States rather than centrally located in traditional Hometown, USA. Alliance partners and consultants are situated anywhere between fifty to thousands of miles away. “With cost cutting measures a real consideration in today’s economy, the virtual nonprofit organization can realistically offer an alternative to the traditional nonprofit office operation of yesterday,” said Ms. Kearney.

According to Ms. Kearney, “e426.org is a conduit between business and the nonprofit sectors.” Equipped with an arsenal of professional experts, assistance is provided to businesses and nonprofits at little or no cost in the areas of management, consulting services, research, emerging technology, social collaboration, marketing and sales enablement, communications, and grant proposal design and development.
